Well-structured tour with genuinely interested and knowledgable guide Had a very interesting and amusing tour with Stavros. It was well planned, going through ancient history to Byzantine to independence and the making of modern Athens during the monarchy.
Stavros was deeply interested in all aspects of the history and could answer questions to whatever depth was asked, which was nice as I'm a historian. He also would roll with rogue questions about the economy or pavements, even when we were talking about religious history. Very fun and energetic guide, would highly recommend

The best introduction to Athens!! We had Walter (an American Greek) as a guide. The expected tour duration was 2.5 hours but it lasted 3 hours because Walter showed us more than in the official programme. This time really flew by - I never looked at the watch! Walter answered my 100 questions and brought so much life and story to the visited sites! It was my 5th time in Athens but I learned a lot and I definitely recommend this tour! The best is to book via the New Athens Free Tour website (direct booking) as then the guides don't need to pay fees to the external platforms.
